In the Child’s Time – professional responses to neglect

This week Ofsted have published an interesting report exploring the effectiveness of arrangements to safeguard children who experience neglect, with a particular focus on children aged 10 years and under. The report draws on evidence from 124 cases and from the views of parents, carers and professionals from the local authority and partner agencies. Key findings include:- Some authorities are using effective methods to map and measure the impact of neglect on children over time and to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions. Multi-agency Safeguarding Children Training Programme

Bolton Safeguarding Children Board are today launching their safeguarding children training programme for 2014-2015. The training is available to all those working or volunteering with children, young people and their families; and is free to access.  As well as providing core courses on recognising and responding to child abuse and early help, the courses for 2014-2015 also cover a wide range of additional issues that impact on impact on the safety and welfare of children and young people including domestic abuse and Child Sexual Exploitation.
