The prevalence of female genital mutilation (FGM) in the UK is difficult to estimate because of the hidden nature of the crime. However the World Health Organisation estimates that over 20,000 girls under the age of 15 in the UK are at risk of FGM each year. It’s Not Okay – Greater Manchester Stands Together Against Child Sexual Exploitation

Greater Manchester is taking a stand against child sexual exploitation (CSE) with a ground-breaking new campaign. Greater Manchester Police, Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd, health organisations, the ten local authorities, Local Safeguarding Children Boards and the voluntary sector are working together to target CSE offenders and to educate young people on the warning signs of child sexual exploitation and how to get help.  The campaign also aims to raise awareness with the wider public, encouraging them to take action if they have concerns.
