This article will be of interest to organisations who work directly with children and have a charitable status and also those organisations whose role brings them into contact with children e.g. Museums, Women’s refuges, Mosques, Church groups, Family charities, etc.
The charities commission have recently met with regional Local Authority Designated Officers (LADO) to ensure the Commission are clear in their role in managing allegations against those working for charities. The commission confirmed that they would expect the LADO to inform them where there is a safeguarding issue within a charity.

It is important to highlight that information will only be shared by the LADO in the interests of child protection and that information will only be shared without the organisations knowledge, where the normal lines of communication have failed or are not possible.
