On 9 April 2014, Bolton Safeguarding Children Board hosted a really successful Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Summit. The summit was attended by over 80 practitioners from a range of agencies including Health, Police, Childrens Services and Education.
The CSE Summit focused on local progress and achievements over the last year; the development of ‘Phoenix Exit’ our specialist CSE Team and an overview of what’s happening across Greater Manchester.
The Summit also benefitted from two very powerful presentations that gave delegates an insight into the experiences of parents whose children have been sexually exploited and most importantly a young person’s first-hand experiences of sexual exploitation.
The overwhelming view from delegates was that the event was both powerful and thought provoking. An executive summary of the presentation is available here.
A useful factsheet ‘What can schools do to protect children and young people from sexual exploitation?’ has just been published and can be accessed here
